Rihanna Returns With New Single Lift Me Up

Friday, 28 October 2022 Written by Laura Johnson

Rihanna has returned with a new single.

Lift Me Up marks the singer's first new solo material since the release of her last album, 2016's 'Anti'. It is also the lead single from the 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By' original soundtrack.

The song is a tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who played T'Challa/Black Panther, the King Of Wakanda. It was written by Rihanna, Tems, Oscar-winner Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler, the film's director.

The song is a departure from the club-ready pop and R&B tracks the Barbadian singer has put out previously, with Spanish guitar, keys and uplifting strings providing a rousing backdrop for her impassioned vocal performance.

'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By' soundtrack was produced by Coogler, Göransson, Archie Davis and Dave Jordan, and is out on November 4. 'The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Original Score' was composed and produced by Göransson, and will follow on November 11.

The film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in US cinemas on November 11.
