Ed Harcourt Announces New Album 'El Magnifico', Shares First Track Strange Beauty

Ed Harcourt has laid out plans for a new album.
The follow-up to 2020's 'Monochrome to Colour' is called 'El Magnifico' and will arrive on March 29 via his own imprint, Deathless Recordings.
Self-produced by the British singer-songwriter and recorded at his own Wolf Cabin studios, it was finished at Eastbourne's Echo Zoo Studio with Dave Izumi Lynch adding some finishing touches.
Head below to hear the lead single, Strange Beauty, which unfurls around a joyful and melodic piano line, interspersed with guitars and a catchy, soaring chorus. It comes with a Steve Gullick-directed video, shot in Almeria in southern Spain. Harcourt commented:
"A song that uses visceral imagery to convey that classic old feeling of love and the immense power it has. I think that even after being a reckless, naive romantic after all these years, I still want to describe how violently mad it can make one feel. It’s about escapism, there’s an us against the world aspect, not adhering to the confines of society I guess. The song was written a while back and then lurked in a drawer for a few years…then I gave it the kiss of life and it sprung back with magnificent vigour!"
