Yep, after an intense battle of phone calls and clicking the refresh button, it’s over. It only took 12 hours for every 2010 Glastonbury ticket to disappear from the virtual shelves. This is a marked improvement on 2009’s tickets, which took several weeks to sell out but then 2009 was such a success and the next festival is the 40th anniversary.
The family Eavis have been promising something special for their 40th which runs from the 23rd to the 27th June 2010. This includes a band from every year Glastonbury have played, more non-music entertainment and rumoured acts such as Radiohead, Sting, Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Dizzie Rascal, Fatboy Slim, Florence and The Machine, Ian Brown, Paul Simon, Green Day, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Weller, Kanye West, Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Beyonce and U2.
That’s quite a rumour list and it’s by no means complete, however, it means nothing until next year when the line up is finally announced.
Emily Eavis commented on the Glastonbury website, “We've got a lot of really interesting offers coming in - like one who's an organic potato farmer now, who played in 1970 but wants to reform his band for next year. Which is great. I think it's really important to have a bit of that, plus lots of the new stuff as well. There's so much exciting music around at the moment. I think it's going to be a really fruitful, exciting year.”
Frustrated fans might be relieved to hear there will be another chance to get their hands on tickets. Pre-registration starts again on October 12th, then next year there will be another round of buying madness when the tickets that have been cancelled between now and then get put back on sale.
