Lubomyr Melnyk Tickets, Tour Dates & Concerts 2024/2025 ♫Last Updated: 23 Oct 2018 3:02pm
Lubomyr Melnyk is a composer and pianist from Ukraine, noted for his continuous music, a piano technique based on extremely rapid notes and complex note-series, usually with the sustain pedal held down to generate harmonic overtones and sympathetic resonances. Because of his lifelong devotion to the piano, he has been called The Prophet Of The Piano.
In the 1970s, Melnyk supported himself by playing the piano alongside modern dance classes at the Paris Opera. He eventually released his debut album, 'KMH: Piano Music in the Continuous Mode' in 1979, and went on to release 13 more albums throughout the '80s and '90s. He returned in 2010 with 'Beyond Romance', and continued to release eight more albums, his latest being 'The Dreamers Ever Leave You: The Lauren Harris Ballet Music' in 2018. Lubomyr Melnyk celebrates his 70th Birthday at Earth Hackney in January, with Peter Broderick, Hatis Noit and Anne Muller.
