The Black Eyed Peas revealed on stage that they would be taking an extended break from the music scene, yesterday.
The superstar group were playing crowded show at Alton Towers, when they broke the news to the 18,000 fans at the theme park, saying that it would be their last show in England for a long time.
"This is a very special show for us,” revealed singer Fergie. “Because it is the last time we're going to be in England for a long time.
"We want you to know that we love you and thank you for the support you've given from the beginning."
"We're going to be taking a break just like we did after we released Monkey Business in 2005 until we came back in 2009. But this isn't going to be the last time you'll see us."
The Black Eyed Peas have a handful of shows left this July, including a date in Dublin, a European date and two US shows. This Alton Towers show was, though, the final stop in England before their indefinite hiatus.
The group released ‘The Beginning’ last year, but it turned out to be their lowest charting album since 2003’s Elephunk, and debuted in the UK at #17 in the album chart. ‘The Beginning’ could have been the beginning of the end of the Black Eyed Peas – although the Peas have promised that they will return to production at some point, it is the second hiatus the band have taken in less than 10 years.
