The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood Apologises To Bandmates For 'Saying Things Out Of Line'

Ronnie Wood, guitarist of rock n’ roll icons The Rolling Stones, has apologised to his bandmates after they expressed their unhappiness with Wood following his comments suggesting that the band had been working on new material.

The Stones’ 50th anniversary is looming and has been the focus of intense speculation from their fans, who would want nothing more than new music and a world tour to mark the half century since the band first gigged back in 1962. The band themselves, though, have been particularly less enthusiastic – and have put any celebrations on hold until 2013.

So, when Wood told the Mirror that the band would be ‘throwing some ideas round’ and had planned to start recording new material at the end of the month, his bandmates were understandably annoyed, causing Wood to publicly apologise to them – and claim that the press took his ‘personal views’ the wrong way.

Speaking to Billboard, Wood said: “I heard from Mick Jagger; he's going, 'What the hell?! We don't know anything yet!' And I said, 'you know what the media are like. I just expressed my personal view; I would love to go into the studio.' Then they took it all wrong. So I have to make a personal apology to the rest of the band. I didn't mean to say things out of line.”

Wood did go on to promise fans that they will “have a 50th anniversary. Whatever is going to be done, we will know in the next few months.” Stones fans will simply have to wait until Jagger and co. are ready – so stay with Stereoboard and we’ll keep you up-to-date.
