Dubstep pioneer Benga has revealed brand new track ‘Icon’, which you can hear below, as the first single to be taken from his forthcoming second album ‘Chapter 2’.
Featuring newcomer Bebe Black on vocals, ‘Icon’ brings together all that we love about Benga’s production with brilliant quirky pop sensibilities. As someone who has already produced three top 10 singles, Benga clearly has the knack to create huge leftfield hits – and has showcased his ability once again with this new track.
Benga recently announced his new album via teaser track ‘I Will Never Change’. The song instantly became Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record of the Week (with Zane even rewinding the track!), and clocked up 500,000 YouTube and 50,000 SoundCloud plays in just six days.
‘Chapter 2’ could very well see Benga propelled from dark clubs to the top of charts, with the record featuring great collaborations with exciting big names (which we can’t yet reveal!) as well as newcomers like Sweden’s Marlene Strand and, of course, London’s Bebe Black.
The album will also only increase the huge demand for Benga’s epic DJ sets. With over 17,000 tickets sold in his two-week February headline UK tour, Benga recently returned from sell-out venues in North America with his partner in crime, Skream.
Sunday June 3 also marks an important date for (real) dubstep fans that will see Benga and friends take over London’s Koko. Benga will be performing a full live show featuring his new material for the first time, and has invited special guests Joker, Youngman, Alunageorge and Dismantle and many more (including a surprise) to join him. Be sure to be there – if you need tickets, check the link below.
