The Rolling Stones Announce New Album 'Foreign Tongues' With Lead Single In The Stars

The Rolling Stones have announced their 25th studio album.
The legendary British rock group will release 'Foreign Tongues' through Capitol Records on July 10, following 2023's chart-topping 'Hackney Diamonds'.
Comprising 14 tracks recorded at Metropolis Studios in West London, the album reunites Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who also helmed 'Hackney Diamonds'. Richards said:
"The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it. I'm blessed to be able to do this and long may it last."
Jagger commented: "I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone."
Jagger, Richards and Wood worked on the album with core collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan. It also features a special appearance from late Stones drummer Charlie Watts, recorded during one of his last sessions before he died in 2021, as well as contributions from guest artists including Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure's Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Wood shared: "The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it."
Alongside the news, the band have shared the record's catchy lead single, In The Stars, which follows the opening track Rough and Twisted, initially released as a limited white label vinyl under the name The Cockroaches last month. The former pairs the Stones' classic rock sound with smooth, contemporary production, while the latter is a more raw, gritty blues-rock track.
The full tracklist is still to be revealed, though the album's striking cover art has been shared, created by American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, who commented: "Creating the album cover for the Rolling Stones is an artistic honour - a dialogue with one of the most enduring forces in cultural history."
It's currently unknown whether the band, whose core members are in their late 70s and 80s, have any plans to tour in support of the album. In the meantime, check out a trailer for the record below.
