Rising Singer-Songwriter Rachel K Collier Unveils Video For Stripped Down 'Hard Road To Travel'

A cover of the classic Jimmy Cliff track ‘Hard Road To Travel’ has been given a stripped down modernisation from rising UK singer/songwriter Rachel K Collier and has been climbing the iTunes chart from it’s first exposure in a massive new TV advertising campaign.

Rachel K Collier is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter born in Swansea, Wales. In 2006 she spent 4 years creating music, beats, sound effects and designing sounds on the Creative Music Technology course at The Royal Welsh College of Music. Last year Rachel moved to London to further pursue her music career and has since been writing for others as well as developing her own sound. She’s currently causing quite a stir on the club scene with her collaborations with Wookie and Lung but it’s her stripped back cover of ‘Hard Road To Travel’ that is introducing her to the UK.

The track is the soundbed to the ‘For Whatever Life Brings’ TV advert from Quality Solicitors which launched our screens on 1st May. The result was instantaneous with Rachel’s track shooting straight into the iTunes top 100 that evening, it has since climbed up as high as 42 so far – that’s before any airplay or promotion outside of the TV ad!

‘Hard Road To Travel’ looks set to follow in the footsteps of recent hits from the adverts from Charlene Soraia ('Wherever You Will Go' - Twinings) and Ellie Goulding ('Your Song' – John Lewis) as Quality Solicitors ‘Whatever Life Brings’ advert takes to our screens again in May for a multi-million pound campaign. With 90-second, 60-second and 30-second ad slots running throughout May the advert and the song will be reaching millions of people who can fully empathise with both.

Rachel K Collier – ‘Hard Road To Travel’ available to download now.
