English singer-songwriter Gaz Coombes has announced an October UK tour, following the release of his debut solo album ‘Here Come the Bombs’.
The nine-date tour of the country will see Coombes performing in cities such as Newcastle, London, Bristol, and Birmingham (as well as others) and kicks off on October 17th. Tickets go onsale this Friday (July 13th) at 9am and will cost £12.50 + fees (London £13.50 + fees).
After six successful albums with Supergrass (including the #1 debut ‘I Should Coco’), Gaz Coombes has taken his musical abilities to a solo level with the release of ‘Here Come the Bombs’. The record represents a continuation of his day-to-day life in music, and was recorded at Coombes’s home studio and at Williams’s Temple Studio, both in Oxford. The album explores the unexpected whilst maintaining the famous love of melody that marked some of Supergrass’s finest moments.
Opening with the ethereally dreamy ‘Bombs’, the album reverberates with Coombes’s sonic experimentations: the exuberant ‘Break the Silence’ features pulsating grooves cut with distorted guitars, ‘Fanfare’ sees Coombes experimenting with rhythmic, near spoken vocals, while the closing track ‘Sleeping Giant’ finds his vocals drifting.
