London-based pop singer-songwriter Lily Allen will be returning to our ears soon, after a three year hiatus - and she’ll be changing her working name to commemorate.
The star, who’s always been known as Lily Allen, will now write, record, and perform under her married name Lily Rose Cooper, and she’ll be using that name if she puts out any new singles or even a new album in the coming months.
Allen began a hiatus in 2009 after getting married to now-husband Sam Cooper and having a baby, but the star recently confirmed that she’d been in the studio and working on new material. While it may be some time before anything comes out - she’s just become pregnant for the second time - it’s a welcome return for one of Britain’s favourite artists.
Talking of her new musical endeavours, Allen said: “It’s great to work at my own pace, with no commitments other than to make music. I’m excited to be heading back into the studio.”
Stay with Stereoboard for future updates on Lily Allen - we wonder how long it’ll take for ‘Cooper’ to sink in and ‘Allen’ to be forgotten!
