Lamb Of God Frontman Randy Blythe Finally Granted Bail

The world of metal can breathe a massive sigh of relief today as Randy Blythe, the imprisoned frontman of Lamb of God, is freed from prison following his arrest after a fan died at one of the bands shows in Prague.

After five weeks in a prison in Prague in the Czech Republic, Randy Blythe has been released on bail and is returning to the United States. Although Lamb Of God has cancelled their US summer co-headline tour with Dethklok and support from Gojira, the band has agreed to play the Knotfest shows on August 17th in Council Bluffs, Iowa and August 18th in Somerset, Wisconsin.

Randy Blythe was arrested after he returned to the Czech city earlier this summer, after the incident - in which a young male died from the result of injuries he suffered from being thrown off stage - occurred in 2010. Blythe remained incarcerated by the authorities for several weeks, despite twice posting bail and requesting to be freed, but now he’s finally been allowed to leave - though he must return to face trial in the near future.

Martina Lhotáková, a court spokesperson, revealed: “The decision was reached yesterday at the end of a 16-hour closed session. The only condition of release was the approximately 8 million Czech Koruna bail.” The band have already been forced to cancel their US tour.

Blythe’s attorney Martin Radvan also commented, saying: “[Go home is] what he wants to do. As a world-renowned artist, in a specific genre of music, of course, he cannot afford to simply disappear. There are posters with his picture all around the world, and if he wants to continue performing, he will have to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty of anything he has been charged with.”

Lamb Of God are currently targeting October 26th as the start date for a US tour. Dates and cities will be released as soon as possible. Randy will be making a public statement discussing his time in Prague and thanking fans worldwide for their support in the next week. Check back to Stereoboard for further news.
