Michael Kiwanuka Announces Release Of New Single 'Bones'

Michael Kiwanuka releases his new single, ‘Bones’ on the 24th September. It is taken from his debut album, ‘Home Again’, out now through Polydor/Communion Records.

Following the unanimous praise for his Top 5 debut album in March (with 400,000+ sales to date), Michael has spent the majority of 2012 out on the road. Sold out tours across Europe and the US, and his debut shows in Australia and Japan, will be followed by an already hectic summer of festival performances, ahead of further back to back tours across Europe and the US, all culminating in a headline show at London’s Royal Festival Hall in December.

The buzz Stateside has been rapidly building since the summer release of 'Home Again' on those shores. Primetime television performances (Late Show with Letterman) and influential college radio sessions have translated into the press broadly proclaiming Michael Kiwanuka as the UK’s next big success story. The US version of 'Home Again' also features Michael’s collaboration with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, ‘Lasan’, recorded in Ray Davies’ London based Konk Studios.

A recent performance alongside Buena Vista Social Club in Portugal caused a terrific stir across Europe, and alongside his six piece live band, Michael has quickly become a thrilling live proposition.

It has been a very fine 12 months for the BBC Sound of 2012 winner, but with new songs already being played out live, there promises to be plenty to follow from this distinctive young British soul artist.

Whilst on a recent flying visit back to the UK Michael also spoke exclusively to i-D Magazine to discuss the five records that have had the most influence on him as a musician. The records he discusses include:

The Velvet Underground - 'Loaded'
Jimi Hendrix - 'Electric Ladyland'
Roberta Flack - 'First Take'
Shuggie Otis - 'Inspiration Information'
Sly & The Family Stone - 'There's A Riot Goin' On'

Michael Kiwanuka UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Wed December 5th 2012 - Royal Festival Hall, London
