IM:LTD Release 'Rise Of The Underdogs' LP - Listen Now

IM:LTD, an independent subdivision of the soulful Influenza Media label, has been bringing the world some of the deepest and smoothest drum and bass since 2009, when Parisian DJ/producer/graphic designer/label boss Caine put out IMLTD001. As a lover of everything 170bpm, I was fortunately introduced to them when I heard the Purple Sky EP which hit shelves earlier this year - now, they’ve stunned me again with brilliant new LP ‘Rise of the Underdogs’.

ImageCelebrating what will be their fourth year, the IM:LTD chiefs have commissioned a retrospective compilation of some of the sweetest tracks from some of their most talented producers, and the result is a 10-track album that touches every spectrum of deep drum and bass - from uplifting, vocal liquid tracks, to bass-y, atmospheric darkness, to rolling neurofunk business.

Opening with a track from rising Polish star Mortem - who is certainly a name to look out for in 2013 - your subwoofer will immediately be given a warm-up by 'Whispers'. A dark and haunting track, it's the perfect introduction for the eclectic LP which lies ahead of it. Atmospherix delivers some more minimal beats in similar style, and his straightforward and steppy percussion on ‘CPU’ mean it would probably blend well with ‘Whispers’, too.

A personal favourite on the record is Future Signal’s ‘Monopole’ - the shuffle-y drums, wobbly low-end, and industrial feel all make this track roll brilliantly, and is reminiscent of some of Ulterior Motive’s work - and they’re undoubtedly some of the genre’s tightest producers. ‘Elektronic Angels’ by Soul Intent and ARP XP’s ‘Surrealism’ provide the funky, body-moving/head-bopping soundwaves, while the rest of the LP is as beautiful as it comes.

The LP is out now, and you can check out previews of the tracks below. Available as a digital download, you can pick it up here.
