Spotify Reveal New 'Discover' Feature Following Unveiling Of Google's New Rival Service

Leading music streaming service Spotify has introduced a brand new ‘Discover’ page that allows users to easily find new, taste-matched music - following the recent unveiling of Google’s rival product ‘Google Play Music All Access’.
The new functionality creates users a customised and personal home page, which is based on their activity and taste. This allows users to much easier find new or previously-unheard music based on the user’s taste - much similar to Google’s ‘Explore’ feature, which gives users personalised recommendations based on their music taste.
According to VentureBeat, Spotify have said that the ‘Discover’ page will give users:
- New personalized recommendations every day based on the music you love
- New releases from the artists you follow
- All the music and playlists shared by friends and trendsetters you follow
- Find out when an artist you love is touring near you (via Songkick)
- Related Music: play a song and get instant recommendations on what to play next
Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s chief product officer, has said of the new ‘Discover’ page in a statement:
“With the Discover page, we’re making good on our promise of helping you choose what to listen to when faced with millions of songs. We’ve made your listening experience more personal, more social, and more current.”
