Red Hot Chili Peppers To Begin Work On New Album In September

Friday, 31 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

American rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that they’ll be working on a brand new album come September.

The band last released an album back in 2011 with ‘I’m With You’, though they spent all last year releasing previously unheard tracks from their ‘I’m With You’ recording sessions - they’re still unveiling tracks from the 18-strong collection today. After headlining Coachella earlier this year, they’re aiming to regroup at the end of summer to work on some more new music - according to drummer Chad Smith.

Smith told Billboard:

“We're probably looking at getting together in September and getting on a roll and starting to write songs for the next record. We always have little ideas percolating in jams and rehearsal warm-ups and sound-checks and gigs.”

He continued:

“Sometimes we bust into stuff... We just kind of play whatever, so we always have those little tidbits. But we don't have any fully-formed songs until the four of us get in a room together. That's when the real writing process starts. So, yeah, we're looking at the fall.”

So, not only will you treated to three brand new double sided singles on July 23rd this summer, you’ll also have a brand new album to look forward to - so never say that RHCP don’t do anything for you!! Are you excited at the news? Leave us a comment in the box below.
