Director Of M.I.A Documentary Would 'Rather Die' Than Finish Project

London-based rapper M.I.A is looking to a Kickstarter campaign to help get her documentary out - now that its director Steve Loveridge has quit.

Loveridge has been working on the film for a quite a while, and a teaser trailer was leaked onto YouTube via his Tumblr page on Saturday (July 7) - you can check it out below.

Now, Loveridge has posted the email he received from Interscope asking for it to be removed - and his blunt response.

The label emailed him saying:

“I saw that the teaser of the doc went up on YouTube. Did you put it up, or happen to know where it came from? I know how frustrated you must be with the the whole subject, but I promise we've been having ongoing conversations internally, trying to get legal stuff and funding resolved, it is going to move forward and get done in time for this album cycle and festivals.

“The timing of this leak is not good, as it screws up everything we’ve been working on setting up...”

Loveridge wasn’t in a cooperative mood, and sent a rather blunt response back to Interscope - he told them:

“I really couldn’t give a flying fuck. Count me out. Would rather die than work on this... Nothing personal.”

Since this email was posted, MIA has tweeted that she needs a Kickstarter campaign to get her documentary out there, and also retweeted dozens and dozens of fan messages asking for the film to hit the airwaves.
