Jason Newsted has announced an August 5 release date for his band's forthcoming studio album, 'Heavy Metal Music'.
Building on the teaser EP 'Metal', Newsted’s debut full-length assault, 'Heavy Metal Music', is likewise short on pretence and long on crushing riffs. From the throwback Sabbathian strut of Ampossible, through the breakneck gallop of Long Time Dead and onto the full-speed-ahead charge of Above All, this 11-song album is sure to cement the band’s place as one of metal’s strongest outfits.

Newsted are now back in the US for Megadeth’sformidable Gigantour, which also features Black Label Society, Device, Hellyeah & Death Division. “There is a chance that Mustaine and I will bust out some old Metallica that he was a part of. It has been talked about,” Newsted said. “I’m willing to throw down Phantom Lord – actually, whatever he calls out, I’m gonna throw down!”
