English indie-pop outfit the xx have announced that they’ll begin working on a new album early next year.
The London-based three-piece have been riding the success of their chart-topping 2012 record ‘Coexist’, but are still keeping the seats in their studio warm.
But, before they begin work on a fourth record, they’ve got a handful of US tour dates to complete and are also planning to spend some time apart to do their own thing, meaning we could see some more solo stuff from producer Jamie (xx) Smith.
Smith revealed their plans via an interview with Swedish website Festivalrykten - check out what he had to say:
“We are working on some new songs right now, we have a couple of demos and some sounds.
“After finishing this tour, we will be doing some separate things, I’ll produce and DJ, but we will get back together after New Year’s and start recording our third album.”
The band toured the UK earlier this year, and as mentioned they’re hitting the UK later this month too. Are you looking forward to a new LP? Or maybe a follow-up to Jamie xx’s ‘We’re New Here’ - we already know he’s working on stuff with Four Tet, meaning a collab could be hitting the airwaves soon.
