Gene Simmons Confirms 2014 KISS UK Shows

Tuesday, 15 October 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Gene Simmons, co-founder of rock titans Kiss, has confirmed that the band are set to return to the UK for live shows in 2014.

Speaking in a recent Classic Rock Magazine interview, Simmons discussed a variety of subjects including the forthcoming Kiss movie You Wanted The Best You Got The Best as well as answering questions about the new American Football team LA KISS. Of course, the burning question for many was the possibility of a UK tour. Classic Rock Magazine asked:

Moving away from sports, if not money, there are rumours of a Kiss doing a spring tour of the UK in 2014?

That’s true. And as an avowed Anglophile I can’t wait. But the UK is a very strange place; it really is like the Hobbit world, a magical kingdom. The Europeans call you European but the English don’t. You’re a very small island surrounded by water. You didn’t invent rock’n’roll or blues or jazz, but you strange little people with your strange foods and odd colloquialisms created the music that rules the world – The Beatles, the Stones, The Who, Zeppelin ad infinitum – and you continue to do so.

Kiss are currently in Tokyo, touring the world promoting latest album 'MONSTER' which was released in October 2013. The band hit all corners of the US with Motley Crue last summer, which led to the follow-up question:

Would you consider playing as part of a package with Mötley Crüe, with whom you toured the US last summer?

No. We’re thinking of a fortieth anniversary celebration. We have the spider stage prop, which does everything except give birth. I don’t want to give away the other thing we’re going to do, but (adopts Cockney accent) it will be a right proper celebration.

UK fans have been anticipating a tour announcement from KISS for a while. The band performed an intimate London fundraiser gig for the Help for Heroes charity in 2011, following the cancellation of Sonisphere Festival, a festival they were due to headline. Ever since, the band have had tongues wagging about a full UK tour.

Kiss have remained tight-lipped about a UK visit and nothing has been officially confirmed by the band, however, KISS have toured America, live shows have been gone ahead in mainland Europe and the UK are still awaiting for that all important announcement!
