Megadeth Announce New Album 'The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead' With First Single We'll Be Back

Thursday, 23 June 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Megadeth have announced their 16th studio album,.

'The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead', the highly anticipated follow-up to 2016's 'Dystopia', will arrive on September 2 via UMe, and marks the thrash legends' first release since vocalist Dave Mustaine recovered from throat cancer.

Co-produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, it was recorded at the singer's house in Nashville, Tennessee, and features guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren alongside bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who stepped in to record the LP after David Ellefson was fired from the group in 2021. Permanent replacement bassist James Lomenzo officially joined the group in May.

Alongside the news, Megadeth have shared the record's fiery lead single, We'll Be Back, a relentlessly heavy affair that shows off some blistering guitar work while rollicking along to galloping riff. It's accompanied by the first of three short films produced by Mustaine that chronicle the origins of Megadeth's mascot, Vic Rattlehead.

"For the first time in a long time, everything that we needed on this record is right in its place," Mustaine commented. "I can’t wait for the public to get hold of this!"
