Thick Set August Release For New LP 'Happy Now', Post Lead Single Loser

Thursday, 23 June 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Thick have announced their second album.

The Brooklyn pop-punk trio will release 'Happy Now' through Epitaph Records on August 19, following up their 2020 debut record, '5 Years Behind'.

Reuniting with producer Joel Hamilton, the band recorded the 11-track LP at Studio G Brooklyn. To celebrate the news, they've dropped the lead single, Loser, an anthemic rock jam, that comes with a video directed and produced by Jeanette D. Moses. Thick said:

"Especially in music, it’s so easy to feel like a loser and a fuck-up. We want people to know that it’s okay to mess up and that everyone’s a loser sometimes. It’s really the best way to live, instead of trying to be number-one all the time.

"This song is an anthem for everyone who feels outshined and overlooked by the people around them. Ultimately, it’s about using that chip on your shoulder to do better and realizing that you’re never going to be a winner if you keep using other people as your measuring stick."

"Most of our songs lean toward optimism, even when there’s a lot of pain in them," says vocalist and guitarist Nikki Sisti, who refers to Thick's music as a "living diary." "It’s not about toxic positivity or trying to force yourself into happiness; it’s about recognizing that it’s okay to feel a whole spectrum of emotions, and then getting to the other side and really growing from your experiences."

'Happy Now' tracklist:

1. Happiness
2. I Wish 2016 Never Happened
3. Loser
4. Tell Myself
5. Her Chapstick
6. Your Garden
7. Montreal
8. Wants & Needs
9. Maybe Tomorrow
10. Disappear
11. Something Went Wrong
