Kate Nash Announces Sixth Album 'Cailin' With New Single Spilt Milk

Wednesday, 16 September 2026 Written by Jon Stickler

Kate Nash has announced her sixth studio album.

The follow-up to 2024's '9 Sad Symphonies' is titled 'Cailín' and will arrive on January 22 via Kill Rock Stars. Eleven years in the making, it serves as a love letter to the BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter's Irish heritage, produced by KoOoLkOjAk and recorded at Stiúideo Cuan on the West Coast of Ireland with trad musician Charlie Lennon. Nash said:

"All my earliest musical memories were in Ireland: live music in the pub, going to Sharon Shannon gigs, seeing the best accordion player you’ve ever seen and it’s a bored-looking eight-year-old boy in a puffer jacket. There’s a natural respect for musicians as it’s embedded into the fabric of everyday life."

Alongside the announcment, Nash, who holds dual nationality and grew up in North Harrow, has shared a new politically-charged single, Splilt Milk, which combines traditional Irish sounds with punk energy and was written around Ireland's abortion laws before the repeal of the Eighth Amendment. Nash said: "Spilt Milk was initially written about abortion law in Ireland before they repealed the 8th, which only happened in 2018. It’s about not having control over your own body, not being listened to and feeling like the powers that be are getting bigger, scarier and more crushing."

Her previous single, a cover of Sinead O'Connor’s Famine, released in April, will also appear on the album.

Nash will showcase her new music with tour dates in Ireland this autumn, as well as in February 2027. Tickets are on sale now.
