Sigur Rós Release First New Song In Seven Years Blóðberg

Sigur Rós have released their first new song in 10 years, Blóðberg.
Clocking in at seven minutes, it also marks their first recording since multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson returned to the line-up in 2022.
Soothing and slow-building, the production ascends through lush strings from the London Contemporary Orchestra, while frontman Jónsi Birgisson's ethereal vocals pour over the swelling, atmospheric soundscape.
The track's accompanying video, directed by Johan Renck, will premiere on YouTube at 3pm BST today (June 12). Renck said:
"I feel as nihilistic as one could regarding the future. We are powerless against our own stupidities. Some aspects of this came to merge with my impressions of the themes of Blóðberg. The music becoming a score to my own miserable thoughts, giving them beauty as only music can."
Sigur Rós will play London's Meltdown Festival this Friday (June 16), and the inaugural On The Mount At Wasing concert series on July 2, as part of a European tour that will see them joined by a 41-piece orchestra for the majority of dates. They also have North American concerts scheduled for August.
Sigur Rós released the archival live album, 'Odin’s Raven Magic', in 2020.
