Sigur Rós Announce Imminent Release Of New Album 'Átta'

Sigur Rós will release their first studio album in 10 years tomorrow.
'Átta' will arrive digitally via BMG on Friday (June 16), with physical formats available from September 1. The news follows hot on the heels of the group's return earlier this week with the track Blóðberg.
Comprising 10 songs, it'll mark their first full-length studio release since 2013's 'Kveikur', as well as their first with multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson, who returns following his departure from the band in 2012, joining frontman Jónsi and bassist Georg Holm.
Featuring contributions from the London Contemporary Orchestra conducted by Robert Ames, 'Átta' was recorded all over the world, with sessions taking place at the trio's Sundlaugin studio in Iceland, the famous Abbey Road in London, and a number of different studios in the United States.
Sigur Rós will perform at London's Meltdown Festival tomorrow, and the inaugural On The Mount At Wasing concert series on July 2, as part of a European tour that will see them accompanied by a 41-piece orchestra for the majority of dates. They also have North American concerts scheduled for August.
