Islet have announced a new album.

The four-piece will release 'Soft Fascination' on September 29 via Fire Records, following up 2020's Welsh Music Prize shortlisted 'Eyelet'. Commenting on its themes, vocalist and bassist Emma Daman Thomas commented:

"It’s about repetition and volume and feeling subsumed by sound. The coming together of bodies, the merging and separation of consciousness.

"The album is named 'Soft Fascination' after that state of mind where focus drifts. Attention is diffused and the mind can wander. It's about letting yourself go, being part of something that’s much bigger than ourselves."

As a preview, they've shared the single, Euphoria, which, like all songs featured on the record, was self-produced, with the instrumentals tracked live with few overdubs. It opens the record with a burst of high-energy synth-pop, and comes with an accompanying one uncut shot video, directed by Daman Thomas herself, and featuring dancer Anushiye Yarnell.

"The way Anushiye moves is so present in the moment and so full of life, she was the perfect fit for this song. We did a few improvised takes, all completely different, and chose the one that was, in her words “sensitive, understatedly crazed… re-channelling my cellular innocence and joy,” the singer added.

Islet will play Rebel Fest in Rogerstone, Newport on June 30, before new shows in Bristol, Cardiff and London between September 29 and October 4. Tickets go on general sale at 11am tomorrow (June 21).
