Considered one of the acts to come out of Australia for a while, Gotye's story is a strange one – for ten years he went without commercial accomplishment, and then, on the verge of giving up, he made the most successful track of his career – becoming the fifteenth Aussie and just the second Belgian (Gotye was born in Bruges but grew up in Melbourne) to hit #1 on the Billboard 200.
