Liverpool Football Club was formed in 1892 following a dispute between the directors of neighbouring club Everton and its president, John Houlding, who owned the club's ground, Anfield. The disagreement over rent resulted in Everton moving to Goodison Park, leaving Houlding with an empty stadium. Thus, Liverpool Football Club was born.
