Rolling Stones Dismiss Glastonbury Rumours

Rock giants The Rolling Stones have released a statement dismissing the rumours that they will be performing at Glastonbury this summer.

The Stones are one of the most successful music acts in British music history. Now with over forty years of experience since their first show the band are still as strong as ever, with record-breaking tours and millions of fans. Speaking of record breaking tours, the group’s last global adventure ‘A Bigger Bang’ in 2005 was announced as the highest grossing tour in history and saw Mick and Co play to over one million people during a single gig in Brazil.

Recent speculation in the press has now seen fan’s hopes raised at the prospect of a brand new tour. Rumours have been suggesting that the band could be on the verge of preparing a full-scale tour in 2010, with some claiming that The Rolling Stones could headline Glastonbury this summer.

However such optimism was cut short by a statement recently released from the group. “Following recent UK media speculation, The Rolling Stones would like to make it clear there are no plans at the moment for the band to tour in 2010,” a spokesman for the group revealed. The statement to the NME also dismissed rumours that they were due to play at Glastonbury’s 40th year.

On the bright side though, the group did confirm the anticipated re-issue of their seminal album ‘Exile On Main Street’. The album was released back in 1972 and remains as one of the finest efforts created by the band. The recording sessions were famously fruitful and the new expanded edition is expected to contain unreleased tracks. Titles including ‘Plunder My Soul’, ‘Following The River’ and ‘Sophia Loren’ are suggested to be included.
