New York-based four-piece Coheed and Cambria are post-hardcore/progressive rock band who’ve been writing, recording, and releasing their own unique brand of melodic-yet-headnod-inducing rock since 1995. Fronted by the afro’d vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez, the band’s albums are based on comic book series ‘The Amory Wars’ a sci-fi story created by Sanchez himself.
Their first record, 2002’s ‘The Second Stage Turbine Blade’, set them up for a successful career of releases, and the band are now waiting upon the release of their sixth studio album - a record that will be split into two parts; the first, ‘The Afterman: Ascension’, is set to hit shelves in October 2012, while the second will see a release in February 2013. Coheed And Cambria have unleashed the aptly sinister video for latest single, ‘Dark Side of Me’, taken from the second volume of their new double concept album, ‘The Afterman: Descension’, out now via Everything Evil/V2.
The third visual piece for Coheed And Cambria's new single and title track, 'The Afterman' has premièred online. The video, which shows the band at their most delicate and cinematic, continuing the visual story from the album’s story line, sees The Afterman’s (i.e. Sirius Amory) spaceship exploding in the sky, and his wife Meri’s emotional response to the news.
Following Coheed And Cambria’s critically acclaimed, Top 5 Billboard album release of volume one of their double-album, 'The Afterman: Ascension' on October 8th, 2012, the band announces the release of volume two, 'The Afterman: Descension' via V2/Everything Evil on February 4th, 2013.
Jägermeister have announced that hardcore heroes Feed The Rhino and Radio 1 Rock Show DJ Daniel P Carter will be joining Coheed and Cambria and Black Spiders on the bill for ‘Ice Cold in Bournemouth’.
