Blondie Set To Return With New Album In 2011

Legends of the new wave movement Blondie look set to return with their ninth studio album next year.

According to reports emerging from Billboard.com, Blondie recorded the album in Woodstock New York at the end of last year. Entitled ‘Panic Of Girls’ and consisting of 14 tracks, the album will be the first studio material to emerge from the band since 2003’s ‘The Curse of Blondie’.

Speaking to Billboard about the return, Blondie drummer Clem Burke revealed that the new album sees the band focus more on raw sound. "We tried to make the recording process as organic as possible and tried to stay away from programming as much as we could, because ('The Curse of Blondie') had a lot of programming on it," he said. "So in the spirit of Woodstock, we kept going in the studio and playing."

The band has recently been on the road rolling through venues with their ‘Endangered Species Tour’. Showcasing some of their new songs, in which vocalist Debbie Harry penned, Blondie have been mixing new tracks such as ‘What I Heard,’ ‘The End’ and ‘Mother’ with their fan favourite classics.

Blondie return to the live stage stateside this week, playing a list of dates sharing the stage with Cheap Trick and the B-52s.
