The Strokes Offer ‘Under Cover Of Darkness’ As Free Download

Wednesday, 09 February 2011 Written by James Conlon

The Strokes have released their comeback single, ‘Under Cover of Darkness’ today (February 9th), offering the track as a free download on their official website, thestrokes.com.

The song was made available this evening at 7:35pm, and will be free to download for 48 hours from the band's website. Fans must sign up to their mailing list in order to recieve the mp3.

The song is the first release from their upcoming album, ‘Angles’, a record which is supposedly set to return to the ‘classic’ Strokes sound, as promised by bassist Nikolai Fraiture in a recent interview with the BBC. If 'Under Cover of Darkness' is anything to go by, then he's certainly a man of his word: with lively bass hooks, Julian Casablancas’ sadist vocal chops and a pulsing guitar solo, the band are no doubt back to their true form.

‘Angles’ is set for physical release on March 21st in the UK and March 22nd in the US.

A snippet of the track was unveiled on Monday (February 7th) to generally positive reviews. You can listen to the full song from the band’s official YouTube channel below:
