Winehouse Family Seeking Advice After Amy Death Investigation Potentially Branded 'Void'

Amy Winehouse’s family are reportedly seeking advice after it was yesterday revealed that one of the coroners involved in the investigation into his daughter’s death was practicing illegally.

Yesterday we published a story revealing that the investigation into Amy Winehouse’s death could be branded null and void, because head coroner Dr Andrew Scott Reid appointed his wife Suzanne Greenaway as assistant deputy coroner – even though she doesn’t meet the standards required by the Law Society to take on such a role. She has since resigned.

The investigation deemed Winehouse’s death to be caused by ‘misadventure’, but the whole inquest could be deemed illegal – should it be challenged in high court. In fact, Dr Reid had invited Greenaway to be the assistant deputy coroner in over 30 different cases, and they could all also be made void too should they also receive a challenge in high court.

A statement from the Winehouse family published in The Independent reads: “The Winehouse family is taking advice on the implications of this and will decide if any further discussion with the authorities is needed.”

Amy’s father Mitch had also taken to Twitter to talk of the news, writing: “Don't worry about coroner nonsense. We are all ok.”
