Manchester rock Noel Gallagher has revealed that he’s hoping to take a break from music and songwriting next year - because he really doesn’t want to make another album like Oasis’ ‘Be Here Now’.
Noel has enjoyed a very successful debut album with his new project The High Flying Birds, and has toured the world performing tracks from the hit record. But, rather than get his teeth stuck into a second album straight away, he’s going to let himself cool down for a year - because he’s afraid he’ll make an album as ‘shit’ as ‘Be Here Now’.
Speaking to XFM, Noel said: “I'm taking a well earned break after this. Why mess with brilliance? I'd only fuck it up. Look what it did to the aftermath of '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'. Shit on it! 'Be Here Now'?”
While ‘Be Here Now’ hit #1 in the UK Albums chart and has been certified as 6x platinum, it’s almost universally considered as the worst Oasis album of all-time - Noel described it as “the sound of a bunch of guys, on coke, in the studio, not giving a fuck. All the songs are really long and all the lyrics are shit and for every millisecond Liam is not saying a word, there's a fucking guitar riff in there Wayne's World stylie.”
You won’t have to worry about the possibilities of any more Oasis albums, though, as Noel yesterday claimed that he will never reform the band - even if all of the world’s starving children depended on it.
