Noel Gallagher has been named this year's BRITs Songwriter Of The Year.
Decided by a panel of expert judges, the prize recognises exceptional songwriting talent and has previously been awarded to Charli XCX, RAYE, Ed Sheeran, and Kid Harpoon.
Stacey Tang, chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and co-president of RCA Records at Sony Music UK said:
"For more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story - bold, brilliant, and always recognisable. His songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally. Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide."
Gallagher will accept the award during the BRIT Awards ceremony in Manchester, at the Co-op Live arena on February 28.
From Oasis to his solo work with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, the singer-songwriter, who already has multiple BRITs to his name, has left a lasting mark on British music, releasing seven albums with Oasis and four with his High Flying Birds.
Alongside his brother Liam, Oasis ended 16 years of speculation with a surprise reunion in August 2024, kicking off their Oasis Live '25 Tour with 41 shows around the world. The group has previously won top BRIT Awards, including Best British Group and Album of the Year, while Noel's songwriting also earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection in 2013.
The nominations for this year's BRIT Awards were revealed in January. It was also previously announced that Jacob Alon won the BRITs Critics' Choice Award.
For the first time, the 2026 BRITs will take place outside London, broadcast exclusively on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player, with Jack Whitehall returning as host. Acts already confirmed to perform live at the event include Olivia Dean, Harry Styles, Wolf Alice and Mark Ronson.
Alon, Dean, Fatboy Slim, Lambrini Girls, Myles Smith, Jack Savoretti, Katherine Jenkins, Josh Baker, and Rossi are set to play intimate BRITs Week for War Child gigs ahead of the ceremony.
Earlier this month, Manchester music organisation Brighter Sound unveiled details of the city-wide BRITs Fringe programme.
