Slayer Encourage Fans To Ignore Westboro Baptist Church At Jeff Hanneman's Funeral

Thrash metal titans Slayer have encouraged their fans to do the worst thing possible to the Westboro Baptist Church fools if they turn up and protest at their late bandmate Jeff Hanneman’s funeral - but rather than suggest they get aggressive (à la Cattle Decapitation’s ‘Forced Gender Reassignment video, which sees WBC trolls tortured so violently we can’t even hotlink to it!), Kerry King and co. have asked that fans simply ignore them!
A memorial celebration for Hanneman is set to take place in the Hollywood Palladium today, with members of the public all invited to come and pay tribute to the late guitarist, who passed away on May 2nd earlier this month. But, while the public are invited, some uninvited guests are expected to turn up to - the lowlife scum that is the Westboro Baptist Church, who are shamelessly planning to picket the funeral today.
While you may expect a bunch of angry metalheads and bikers (if you’ve been to a Slayer show, you know the size of the people who turn up!) would have a hard time not throwing down with the extremist group, Slayer themselves have asked their legions of fans to simply ignore the group - something which, in fairness, would probably annoy the group most.
Posting via their Facebook page today, the band wrote:
“Want to really piss off the Westboro Baptist Church at Jeff's Memorial Celebration? Do exactly what Slayer members and family are going to do - totally ignore them. They don't exist. And then come inside and celebrate Jeff's life with us.”
So, as much as you may want fans to ‘Show No Mercy’ when it comes to the funeral later today, we suppose choosing to ignore them is probably is the better to do. If there is a Heaven, and indeed a place ‘South of Heaven’, we imagine they’ll be going straight downstairs anyway, where Lucifer himself will have his funky way with them, just like in South Park... That’s right Saddam, WBC are coming to take your man!
