Margaret Announces UK Release Of Controversial Single ’Thank You Very Much’

Wednesday, 22 May 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Pop star Margaret is bringing her European smash 'Thank You Very Much' to the UK. The track has become a huge viral hit due to it's cheeky and not-to-be-missed music video, which has amassed over 2.6 million views.

At 21 years old, Margaret already curates a hugely successful fashion blog and is now fronting perhaps the most infectious summer debut of 2013 – ‘Thank You Very Much’.

Whilst the song itself is a fun and flamboyant pop anthem, the accompanying video has caused controversy in several places, from being initially banned on YouTube to being refused airtime on certain Russian stations. The video was eventually launched on YouTube and has so far  wracked up 2.6 million views, whilst also dominating airplay charts across the continent.

The video is directed by 2010 MTV VMA Breakthrough winner, Chris Marrrs Piliero (Britney Spears/Ke$ha/The Black Keys) and includes over 30 fully nude (although appropriately pixelated) men and women, and tells the classic (!) story of teenage rebellion – although in this case the rebellion comes in the shape of Margaret’s desire to wear clothes. Very fitting for a fashion blogger of her stature.

Scandal, politics and controversy aside, 'Thank You Very Much' is available on iTunes now and impacts on June 16th.
