Lankum and ØXN's Radie Peat has shared plans for her debut solo album.

‘No Human Tongue Can Tell’ will arrive through Rough Trade Records on November 13 and features her debut solo single, Still I Love Him, released in July, as well as the newly shared The Moon and Stars, a dark, haunting song that reworks traditional folk lyrics to express anger.

"There are coded references to unwanted pregnancies and abortions within the song," Peat explained, "as well as references to rue, a herb which was used to cause miscarriage, I wanted to represent these experiences from the woman’s perspective – to connect us with her experience."

She also revealed that the album has been taking shape for a long time. "It’s been ticking along in the background of my head for probably 15 years or so.

“When I was in my 20s I watched a documentary on Mike Oldfield making ‘Tubular Bells’ and the idea just stuck that I would like to try to record like that, where you write and play all the intersecting parts. I found the idea of being limited by your own mind and abilities, with all the blind spots and personal preferences, very appealing."

On the album's themes, she continued: "They are largely songs of female struggle, suffering, strength and endurance. But there are many about love as well, with all the complications that brings."

Peat will play solo shows at London's Union Chapel on November 3 and Dublin's Vicar Street on November 20, before a date in Amsterdam on January 31. She has also announced peformances at La Tranbendo in Paris on February 1 and The Barbican in London on May 19, with tickets for both dates on sale at 10am local time on Friday (September 18).
