Neutral Milk Hotel is an American indie-rock outfit hailing from both Ruston, Louisiana and Athens, Georgia. Formed in 1989 by frontman and songwriter Jeff Magnum, the band also consists of Scott Spillane, Jeremy Barnes, and Julian Koster. Known for their lo-fi and psychedelic take on indie, they found fame throughout the 90s - especially their second LP 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea', which is considered one of the best indie albums of all time.
After entering hiatus in 1999, the band remained stagnant throughout the noughties, but returned to the stage in 2010 much to their fans' delight. Though they initially formed just for a benefit for a close friend, they were soon back in the studio and released a new eight-track EP ('Ferris Wheel on Fire') in 2011.
