LA based film and television composer Kerry Muzzey returns with 'Take Care and Safe Home', his sixth outing under the moniker The Candlepark Stars. Stereoboard recently caught up with the very talented composer to find out more about the new album, its inspiration and what the future holds for The Candlepark Stars.

The Best Of Modern British Music (Olympic Opening Ceremony Feature)
One thing the Olympics sought to do in its opening ceremony was celebrate some of the biggest hits and acts in Britain's history, and that in itself proved pretty nostalgic. But a country's musical credit is not all based on its heritage and classics, it's also about the new breed of bands and musicians who are continuing the legacy.

Best Of British: Where Were The Classics? (2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony Feature)
Though the Olympics did a relatively good job in soundtracking the history and evolution of British music, it's unsurprising that some of the classics had to be left out. As more of a rock 'n' roller, the real big names that spring to mind are of an alternative nature, but there are some longstanding names in British music who weren't recognised in the list. And, since I'm sure Morrissey is crying in a corner somewhere, this is for you guys...

Best Of British: The Olympic Playlist (2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony Feature)
With all eyes focussed on London on the evening of July 27th, they had to pull out a blinder to celebrate all that was British and then some. Love it or loathe it, the ceremony caused laughter and smiles to millions and was soundtracked by some of the country's most iconic songs. But what was deemed worthy enough to represent our musical history as we put on the biggest show on earth for one night only?

My Chemical Romance: Three Cheers For Ten Years (My Chemical Romance Feature)
Everyone seems to have a band that really provoked your love of music, and for me that band - gulp - is My Chemical Romance. I am aware of the stigmas, the opinions, the tags that go along with them, yet I'm not alone in this sentiment. So as today - July 23rd 2012 - marks the 10th anniversary of their debut record 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love', I thought it seemed the best time to ramble aimlessly about what made them so important and the transformations they've undergone in the last ten years. If anyone cares about my opinion...

Gone Commercial: Rock Stars Appearing In TV Advertisements (Sex Pistols, Slash, Motorhead Feature)
The notion of getting a celebrity to advertise your product to draw more attention isn't a new one, but there's certainly something extra to be gained from creating something weird. Metal lords promoting butter? Shock rockers promoting family hotels? While Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne appearing in spot commercials stick in your mind for the next few minutes, it's the weird and wonderful that stand out long-term.

Stereoboard Look At Guns N' Roses As The 25th Anniversary For 'Appetite For Destruction' Draws Near
The 21st of July marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most iconic albums in rock 'n' roll, if not the most iconic. Back in 1987, Guns N' Roses were at their prime and 'Appetite For Destruction' catapulted them to dizzying heights of glamour and excess, fame and fortune. That was, of course, until it all fell apart.
Stereoboard Look At Positives & Negatives Of Festivals & The Great British Summer (Festival Feature)
Hosting festivals across the summer is no coincidence. It's just a given that we'd rather spend days watching bands in the glorious sunshine as opposed to in the midst of a snowy winter. But that's not how nature works. "Oh, T in the Park's this weekend? Best make sure the sun's out." As a UK resident, we understand the unpredictability of our weather and that's probably a fair explanation as to why we always take wellies to festivals... just in case.

Tradegy At Music Festivals & Concerts (Radiohead, Guns N' Roses, The Who, Slipknot, Pantera Feature)
For many, going to shows is a staple hobby, a place for fun and revelling in your love of music. Music has an ability to unite people like little else can, yet we forget that everything in life has an element of risk and danger. A stark reminder of this came at Radiohead's recent Toronto show as the stage collapsed, killing a member of crew. Sadly this isn't the first fatal incident at a show, and sadly it won't likely be the last.

Stereoboard Speak To Founding Member Of The Eagles Glenn Frey About His New Album 'After Hours'
With so much contrast in all aspects of music today, it's refreshing to find someone with a career spanning four decades who still appreciates it as something wonderful. Founding member of The Eagles, Glenn Frey has had his share of solo successes outside the band, yet his latest offering 'After Hours' feels a much more personal affair. A string of love songs, each track that made the cut seems to have an added relevance to either his own or his parents respective eras, so much so he notes, "It's more about the music than it is about me, I'm just the messenger for this project."

Its A Family Affair - Stereoboard Look At The Most Popular & Successful Families In Music
In many cases, a certain business or trade can run in the family and that is certainly no different when it comes to the music industry. While some families in the spotlight try to shelter their relatives and keep them from following the same path, others encourage siblings or children to join them in the spotlight. From metal to pop, families tackle many genres of music; this has been the case for many years, and it’s unlikely to change any time soon.
Stereoboard Speak To Emelie Autumn About Her Latest Album 'Fight Like A Girl' & Sell Out Book

Through her trials and adversity, she has remained true to herself as well as her art, but the road to establishing herself has been anything but easy. Friday 13th (lucky for some, unlucky for others), seems a fitting day to catch up with the lady herself, but during our call Autumn was called unexpectedly to sound checks and all outstanding questions were rescheduled to a later date. In this interview, Autumn speaks openly of her time spent on suicide watch, her sell-out book, touring with Courtney Love, her new album, and recording naked. Sex, Drugs & Rock N Roll ...And Books! Stereoboard Look At Some Of The Genre's Best Reads (Feature)
I’m rather rubbish about writing about myself, so much so that my bio on every site is “I just like rock ‘n’ roll and books to be honest.” It pretty much sums me up. I’ve always loved the classic cliché of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll – not to the point of mindlessly living it - but I like to read up on the real heyday of those scandals, the era that typified the slogan that’s synonymous with my favourite genre.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes To The Line-Up Of Bands, Past And Present (Paramore, Stereophonics, Oasis Feature)
You know what it’s like, you start a band at school, it’s your attempt to show some individuality while ‘the man’ is putting you down and to demonstrate what an attractive, cool, deep, arty person you are to the opposite sex. Then, horror, you’re replaced!(Yeah ok he might be a better guitarist and better looking, and can sing something other than Wonderwall, but I’ve been in the Flaming Skull Munchkins since the start dude!) Okay just me then? Dropped like little Moses was dropped into the Nile before he could have had any concept of ‘musical differences’.

Stereoboard Speak To While She Sleeps About New Album 'This Is The Six' & Breaking Their Mould!
Hardcore metal bands aren't really what you'd expect to hear from mainstream radio. A genre of music that doesn't often get the same airplay, press and coverage as its commercial colleagues, it tends to be confined to specialist media. Luckily there are bands out there ready to smash these stereotypes and make a name for themselves as much in the mainstream as in their hardcore fan bases, and Sheffield based While She Sleeps are doing just that. Stereoboard caught up with guitarist and backing vocalist, Mat Welsh to talk about how the band are on the path to breaking out of their specialist mould.

Do Ticket ID Restrictions Beat Touts Or Penalise Fans? (Ticketing Feature)
Purchasing tickets through alternative means is no new phenomenon, in fact it’s almost second nature. You miss out on regular sales and you immediately ask around, turn to eBay or secondary ticketing sites. The ticketing climate has had its fair share of slamming in the press – Channel 4’s ‘The Great Ticket Scandal’ has caused many music fans to boycott various means of sale. But what is there to do? Many bands now take it upon themselves to ‘stop touts’ – but is it really just down to them?

In a world where the music can readily expect a mash-up of both Slipknot and Justin Bieber to create ‘Psychosocial Baby’, it’s fair to say that some odd collaborations will manifest into genuine musical offerings. While they’re not as stark in contrast as the aforementioned example, there have been quite a few creations that brought together artists of various backgrounds. The Great Ticket Scandal - Good Things Come To Those Who Wait (Feature)
Last Thurday night saw hoards of music fans tune in to Channel 4 following the announcement that the channel had won a legal battle to screen its undercover investigation of two secondary ticketing websites: viagogo and Seatwave. In the controversial documentary, Dispatches: ‘The Great Ticket Scandal’, the ticketing websites found themselves under fire for some of their practices, unfairly labelled as glorified ticket touts by the shows producers, leaving fans infuriated at their conduct yet without a full and balanced picture. The ticketing landscape was shaken to its core as stakeholders from all sides pitched in their tuppence worth.

Stereoboard Look At The Most Popular Musical Comics (Tim Minchin, Bill Bailey Feature)
To many, music is a wonderful form of expression; one that can translate countless feelings and thought processes that we just couldn’t put into words. It can connect or capture a listener in many ways and ease them through bad times, be present in prominent memories of the good times and much more. Then again, not everyone takes music wholly seriously as an artform. While it’s a fantastic thing, we all like a little sarcasm or quirk or just a good reason to laugh.

Popular V's More Alternative Songs Of Valentine's Day (Valentine's Day Feature)
While each year is jam packed with songs of love, desire and heartbreak, there’s one day of year that they’re all likely to suffer overplay worldwide. That day is, of course, Valentine’s Day. If you’re into the whole lovey dovey thing, cheese-filled tracks along the lines of ‘I Will Always Love You’ will go down a treat; if you’re alone, some would choose to delve into chocolate and tales of heartbreak. That is how the sweeping generalisation depicts us all on this day of year at least. Warning: this may contain cynicism.
