Bon Jovi and the Beastie Boys included in nominations for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Rock group Bon Jovi and rap trio the Beastie Boys are amongst the nominations for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, it has been announced. Also making it onto the list are Neil Diamond, Tom Waits and LL Cool J, who was also nominated last year but missed out on an induction.

The nominees will find out if they have made in into the renowned museum in December, when the winners are announced. The official ceremony will then take place in March 2011 in Manhattan. If successful, the winners will join the likes of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.

Each year, a handful of legendary rock acts are selected for induction into the Hall of Fame, which is located in Cleveland, Ohio. An artist becomes eligible on the 25th anniversary of their first release. The first ceremony took place in 1986 and the inductees included Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and James Brown.

This year’s inductees included Abba, Genesis and The Stooges, who finally won after being nominated on no less than seven previous occasions. Controversially, Kiss missed out on induction again in 2009 and, this year, they have not even been included in the nominations.
