Julian Velard Releases Details Of New Single 'Sentimental' & UK Live Show

Following the release of his outstanding second album ‘Mr Saturday Night’, Julian Velard returns with his brand new single ‘Sentimental’. The second single to come off the native New Yorkers new album, ‘Sentimental’ is a perfect pop tune which was co-written with the legendary Lol Creme of 10cc. The single will be available on June 20th as a digital download.
2011 has begun in fantastic fashion for Julian. He made his first live UK television appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, which was closely followed by a performance on the Alan Titchmarsh Show. BBC Radio 2 also selected Julian for ‘In Concert With Jo Whiley’. This is not to mention Julian recording a session for The Sun and writing for pop sensation Olly Murs.
Julian has also announced a brand new headline date at London’s Bush Hall on June 23rd. The native New Yorkers previous live shows have gone down a storm with him selling out The Bowery London and Apple asking him to play a show at their flagship Covent Garden Store. ‘Mr Saturday Night’ has all the hallmarks of a classic pop record, and sees Julian turn the singer-songwriter stereotype on its head and swap sincerity for sarcasm. Influenced by 70’s Elton John and packed with the sort of brazenly brilliant tunes that could make Robbie Williams green with envy, it features classic piano pop given a Broadway makeover. All performed by a fictional bow-tie wearing character of Julian’s own invention named Mr Saturday Night.
Written in London, the album was inspired by British theatricality, light-heartedness and the sheer joy of straightforward pop music and sounds like it was as enjoyable to make, as it is to listen to.
A former Parisian street sweeper and nursery school gym teacher no less, Julian has become an immediate hit with critics with The Sunday Times calling it “catchy but complicated; a surprisingly rare combination” and Time Out comparing him to Harry Nilsson and Tom Waits.
