Courtney Love Lawyers Sever Ties Over Fee Agreement Dispute

Lawyers of controversy magnet Courtney Love are apparently trying to distance themselves from the star after it emerged that she owes the team of attorneys money – and is refusing to contact them.

Love had to draft in the legal team after her previous lawyer Rhonda Holmes took her to court, because the Hole star had allegedly slandered her on social networking site Twitter. But now, her new lawyers are attempting to sever the links with Love – as she has 'broken her fee agreement' with the firm and refused to get in touch with them about it.

Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, Pryor Cashman partner James Janowitz revealed: “Over the past several months, Ms. Love has rendered it impossible for Pryor Cashman to carry out its employment effectively. Ms. Love is completely unresponsive to Pryor Cashman's attempts to contact her.”

He continued: “She has cancelled meetings with me with barely any notice on several occasions and has refused to return the calls of other attorneys on her legal team at the firm. She has also refused to respond to our letters. As a result, we have had no substantive communication with Ms. Love in several months and we cannot effectively represent her.”

The same team of lawyers saved the star from eviction in New York earlier in the year, after her landlady took her to court over unpaid rent.
