'Beatles Producer George Martin Best Of All Time', Says Butch Vig

Legendary producer and Garbage star Butch Vig has told NME that he thinks Beatles producer George Martin is the greatest producer of all time.

Vig is considered one of the best producers of modern times, and helped produce a lot of the classic rock albums you know today – like Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and Sonic Youth's 'Dirty'. But, when asked by the site who he thought his favourite producer was, Vig had no doubt that Martin was on top of his list.

“I would have to say George Martin, just because The Beatles records he did really broke so many boundaries, they completely changed the way records were produced, especially for rock bands,” Vig told the site. “Obviously it helped that he was working with an amazing band and they wrote amazing songs but he was very instrumental on the way those records sounded.”

Garbage will be touring the UK this summer, with the band set to play gigs in London, Glasgow, Manchester and Wolverhampton. Garbage UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:
