Example Starts Twitter War With The Whole Of Wigan

English singer-songwriter and rapper Example managed to make front-page news in Wigan (perhaps not a massive achievement, actually) today - after becoming the town’s mortal enemy thanks to a tweet.

The star, who has a rather large Twitter following (1.5million people large), found himself amidst a war with Wigan after writing: “What Twitter needs is a block button for the whole of Wigan, most of the abuse I get comes from Wigan. Are there any nice people in Wigan?” on his page yesterday.

This lead to Example receiving thousands of retweets and favourites from non-Wiganers, and a bucket-load of abuse from tweets living in Wigan - as well as some funny posts from Example himself.

He wrote:

He didn’t show any signs of making-up with the people of Wigan, after re-tweeting this swear-y message he received:

The Twitter warfare has now culminated in Example hitting the frontpage of Wigan Evening Post, with Example seeming rather proud.

While Wigan may be off Example’s cards for a now, he’ll be touring other cities in the UK throughout February 2013.
