Emmure Frontman Frank Palmeri Receives 200 Volt Electric Shock During Gig - Watch Now

Wednesday, 08 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Frankie Palmeri, frontman of American deathcore outfit Emmure, was quite literally given the shock of his life whilst performing on stage last night - after being electrocuted by his microphone!

Emmure had only just arrived on stage at the Plan B venue in Moscow, Russia, and were halfway through an electrifying performance (sorry!) of their opening track ‘4 Poisons 3 Words’ when vocalist Palmeri received what he claims was a 200 volt shock from his microphone. The whole incident was caught on video - you can check it out below.

The venue may face some health and safety issues now, as according to Palmeri’s Twitter, he wasn’t the only one who received an electric shock on the night - Gino Scarim, the tour manager of warm-up act Chelsea Grin, was also ‘blasted’ shortly before Palmeri, though not to the same extent.

The incident saw Palmeri stiffen up and collapse straight to the ground like a falling tree, hitting his head on amps and other gear on the way down. He wasn’t the only one injured in the incident - a crewmember also received a shock or burn after rushing to his aid. After the zap, the band continued performing for a few seconds, before slowly stopping. The gig was then cancelled just one track into their proposed 14-strong setlist.

Palmeri is totally fine following the incident, and has been posting on Twitter about it - he wrote:

Despite the shock being a rather intense moment, YouTubers have been claiming that they should have continued the gig - one user even wrote:

“I've been there my friend, I know just how bad that shit hurts (joys of working in a shitty factory). Honestly, I think its kinda bullshit they left tho. The shit sucks, it hurts like a MOTHERFUCKER, but get the fuck back on stage you pansy! [sic]”

You can check out the video below - leave us a comment on what you think of it, and whether you reckon Emmure should have continued the gig!
