One Fan Dead and Two Hospitalised at First Stop on Zedd Tour

Russian/German electronic dance music producer Zedd kicked off his North American tour in style last night - but the gig was marred by tragedy, after one fan died and two were hospitalised.
Zedd’s had a hell of a year these past 12 months, having released debut album ‘Clarity’ to critical acclaim, and having been asked to produce for superstars like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
Now, he’s left the studio and hit the road for his tour, and ahead of his five UK gigs in October, he’s lined-up a load of US and Canada dates - which kicked off in Boston’s House of Blues last night.
Though the majority seemed to have a blast - especially Zedd, who (following a retweet binge) wrote on Twitter ‘what a tour opener, OMG’ - the night ended with one death and two hospitalisations, resulting in Zedd cancelling the second House of Blues show that was scheduled for last night.
All three cases have been put down to drug overdoses - one, an adult woman, was announced dead at Beth Israel Hospital, while two others are currently in a serious condition. Police are investigating the possibility of a homicide, as the three people weren’t connected.
Out of respect to the families and friends involved in last night's tragic loss, the show in Boston tonight is canceled.
Jay Anderson, an official from the House of Blues, has commented on the events, saying via a statement:
“Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance. They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities. One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss. This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to work with local officials.”
