Lady Blackbird—real name Marley Munroe—is a soul-jazz singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California.
Rising to fame after releasing a reimagined version of Nina Simone's Blackbird shortly after the killing of George Floyd in 2020. Though the song had been released several months previously, the effect that the tragic event had on the world caused her to feel that this was a particularly apt time to release the track, as jazz 'has protest in its DNA.' She went on to drop her debut album, 'Black Acid Soul', in 2021. Lady Blackbird will headline London's KOKO on July 29, 2023.
