Tommy Tiernan is a comedian and actor from Donegal, Ireland.
He began his career in 1995 with his first stand-up show Stop the Train, eventually going on to host the BBC's Stand-Up Show until 2002. He has also been the recipient of some of comedy's biggest honours, including the Channel 4 So You Think You're Funny Award, a Perrier Comedy Award and the Best Stand-Up Award at the British Comedy Awards, among many others. Tiernan has appeared on many television and radio shows throughout his illustrious career. He and Hector Ó hEochagáin presented The Tommy And Hector Show on i102-104FM, and he also featured in the last episode of the sitcom Father Ted as suicidal priest Father Kevin. More recently, he has hosted his own show—aptly titled The Tommy Tiernan Show—as well as appearing in Channel 4's hit show Derry Girls, and currently writes a weekly newspaper column for The Sunday Independent. Tommy Tiernan has extended his residency at Dublin's Vicar Street, which runs through to April 2023. He will also headline a number of shows across Ireland throughout the first half of 2023, as part of his Tomfoolery Tour.
