Iron Maiden Set To Top UK Album Charts

Kings of heavy metal Iron Maiden look set to conquer the UK album chart this week, snatching the Number One spot from Eminem.

Iron Maiden released their anticipated fifteenth studio album on Monday 16th August and according to mid-week figures, the album - ‘The Final Frontier’ – looks set to outsell the Detroit rapper’s latest album ‘Recovery’.

Currently on the road promoting the new album with an outlandish tour, Iron Maiden recently played a stunning set to a packed crowd at the UK’s Sonisphere festival earlier this month. Having since previewed the new album during a headline performance at Budapest’s Szige festival last weekend, the London based heavy metal icons are now on target to hit the UK Number One album spot this coming Sunday

The figures for the mid-week charts come from Music Week and according to them, Maiden are currently outselling both the UK Number Two and Number Three albums, Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ and The Saturday’s ‘Headlines’, by over three to one.

Of course the charts are of no indication as to how talented an act is or isn’t these days, however, it is still good to know that Bruce and the gang have still got what it takes to compete with the charts!

Iron Maiden have notched up a total of three Number One albums in their career, with September 2006 being the last time the band entered the UK charts.
